Digital Controlling was founded and is led by Philipp Kempter. He combines a background in business administration with years of hands-on delivery in IT and data projects — from management reporting to BI platforms to automating finance processes. Today his focus is on setting up, staffing and steering complex data initiatives.
That combination shapes how we work: first understand what the business actually needs — then build it properly. No jargon, no unnecessary complexity, and solutions your team can run on its own after the project ends. Background
Apprenticeship as a car mechanic, followed by a vocational baccalaureate and a degree in business administration. Master of Science in Business Information Systems (FHNW), with a master's thesis on data-driven decision support in management accounting.
Entered controlling through an internship in the group controlling of an industrial company, then controller and head of controlling in Swiss industrial companies, for a time acting head of finance and controlling, responsible for accounting, reporting and the BI environment. Independent since 2023: project lead, product owner and reporting architect in mandates for companies and corporate groups, working with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure, SAP and Salesforce.
Founder and owner of Digital Controlling GmbH. Reports follow the IBCS® notation. His work for groups going through a change of ownership and buy-and-build has shaped his approach: where ERP systems cannot be harmonised within months, a data platform on top brings visibility across all entities within weeks, and management and investors steer with the same numbers.
